Christians do not like to be "stereotyped" based on wordly credentials - any more than any other group likes to be "stereotyped". We all have our own personalities, quirks, strong points, looks, intellect (some are Mensa), and so forth. If I do get bashed it had better be for the sake of my Saviour.

People that do not want to understand what faith is. In the bible it gives the definition. kind of like this, it is the belief on things not seen. We cannot see God but we know he is a spirit. Our proof is in history, and the world around us, and the Bible. Most think the Bible is a bunch of stories, but through time and archeology, most are finding they are recordings of real history not stories. Even though people pick and choose, eventually they are proved wrong. So being a christian is paying attention to things that have happened, and are and of course will happen, They will continue to belittle because they do not have a heart that is humble.

As I spent the first half of my life as an Agnostic. I may be able to answer your question; Early in life I was full of many questions about God and Christ. and most of the answers that I got were really illogical and wouldn't hold water for five minutes. I met people who claimed to have seen Christ. And I met people who claimed to have seen God. And I have pushed a few into a corner for a answer and there favorite and was: "That's one of the holy secrets." I have met many who had blind faith. But did not even know the scriptures. And I met people who would claim a scripture was in the bible that did not even exist.

Well, for me personally, I have never met a christian that could debate their way out of a wet paper bag. I have met a few very nice christians, but the majority don't even know their own bible or the history of their faith. They just skip along believing what is spoon fed to them from pastors and leaders like sheep.
BTW educated does not mean intelligent. Education is simply memorizing rote facts. Intelligence implies original thinking. Most christians simply do not qualify. Also, a degree from Trinity Bible college is not sufficient to debate evolution.
What do you care anyways? The last time I read the bible being smart wasn't a pre-requisite for salvation. In fact Martin Luther the father of Protestant christianity stated "Reason must be destroyed in the believer". They want dumb sheep.

I agree with you and just maybe they have run into some Christians that act or are that way. I also feel some people say things like that because they are in doubt as to what they believe or maybe they are so full of themselves they can't admit even to their selves that they could be missing out on something great.

bro_ken128,
Because they live in denial. Watch the atheists that come in here as noobs and try to dazzle us with their rebukes, as they attempt to convince us with the old 'common sense' approach. It is laughable. It's not long before they step back and I hope feeling rather sheephish with thier assumptions.
There is a lot more studying going on within Christianity than with the idiot articles that Atheists try to get us to read. But I suppose it's to be expected.

I guess it is because we Christians are not good at projecting ourselves.
We are not proud enough of what we have.. We don;t show it as a valuable treasure, so why get surprised when strangers can't recognise that?
I don't want to blame us alone, sometimes ppl stereotyping us are just doing that to hide away from the truth that Jesus is the truth, the way & the life... No one can REALLY live without him..
That is what I think...

As a Christian you should not only expect these things, but look forward to it.
Remember that Jesus taught that you would be scorned for the belief?
Be thankful, and know that every time someone puts you down, you stand more upright.
Pray for those who persecute you, and forgive them, 10 times 10.

lots of people have lots of different opinions. some christians are not nice people and some are...some non-christians are not nice people, but some are.....so you can be dumb, stupid, uneducated and a complete moron REGARDLESS of what religion you are...{p.s. i feel that the people who try to push their religion on others are the biggest morons of them all} but dont worry about it, live your life right, treat people with the respect that they deserve and forget about the people that dont agree with you...ive learned(mostly thru yahoo answers) that 85% of people are not going to agree with u for amillion different reasons...so do you and forget about them...after all, does it really matter what anyone else thinks?? good luck w. your answers=)

Don't u feel like u see stereo typing in ANY and ALL categories? Prejudice knows all colors. But it almost seems like they feel better and more secure in their lack of faith to knock ours around. The only thing we can do is try our best to not succumb to that. They are trying to prove they are right, and we are trying to prove we are right. The only thing important is love. Love for all. As this is what Jesus taught, and true Christians know, we are to love all, even our enemies.:o] Be happy just to be.:o]
