There is very little green on the body of the fruit, and the leaves are slightly brown and pull out easily. It should also smell like a pineapple.

You should be able to smell it (nice sweet fruity smell) and if you pick it up by the top leaf (one in the middle) it should fall out easily. If you can actually lift the pineapple by that one leaf, it needs a couple more days on the window sill.

When a leaf plucked off the top of the pineapple comes off easily.

Pull one of the leaves on the crown, if it comes out easily it's ripe

Mostly golden on the outside and the leaves on the top are fairly easy to pull out.

Smell it. That sounds weird but with fruits with thick rinds, like pineapples and melons, take a whiff. :) If it smells sweet and fresh, buy it. If it smells like nothing, or too pungent, its either under or overripe.

it should had a golden colour, and if u smell it it should smell sweet and wonderful like a pineapple.

SMELL IS THE BEST WAY
AND IT SHOULD BE FIRM NOT SOFT
SOME PEOPLE PULL OUT A LEAF FROM THE TOP AND IF IT PULLS OUT EASY, THEN THEY SAY IT IS READY TO EAT.
BUT IF THE SMELL IS SWEET THEN I HAVE FOUND THAT IT IS READY TO EAT

If you're growing one, it takes at least 3-4 years to be mature enough to eat. If you're buying it at the store, you don't have to worry about that. They won't put it in the store if it's not ready yet...
