yes, but its so modern right now. personally i think you should do it in person but failing that text would do, she doesn't have to find the right words while trying to avoid your eyes if she says no.

sending a txt is a nice casual way to ask her out, then if she knocks you back you won't have really gone all out making a big deal of it.
