From my experience, Paris is a city to be savored slowly.. If I go again, I intend to not plan anything specific.. but rather just to browse the streets, to slowly wander this magical city and to let Paris show itself to me rather than hurridly go to this museum or that famous place.. I know that most of my best travel experiences come from this state of mind.. Does this make any sense to you...? Don't plan on seeing any one thing.. Plan on exploring, without a map for a change.
You'll be so glad you did.

When I visited, loved the Luxemborg Gardens, Sacre Coer, take a dinner cruise on the Seine River and if you like to go to local bazaars, go to the ones in Monteparnase. I also recommend taking a day trip to Versailles, the castles there are amazing. And If you are staying a little longer, drive to Nantes. It's about 3 hours from Paris.
Nantes is in wine country and if you are a wine lover, you'll dig it. Have fun.

The best things about Paris are her secrets. See the touristy things, if you wish, but definitely go explore. Go into one of the working class arrondissements and find local boulangeries. Try a dessert.
Go to Montmartre and sit on the lawn for lunch and just watch.
Go to the Jardin des Plantes and go for a stroll. Find the hidden gazebo.

How about just trying to enjoy a simple Parisian lifestyle. Go to a local cafe, order some food and coffee and enjoy the people as they come and go. It's the ultimate relaxing experience and it beats the touristy crowds. If you want to see real Paris, just do what the residents do :)

I went on a grave pilgrimage to Le Pere Lachaise.
[Edit]
That's a trip to see dead famous people (Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde and so on) not a very sad journey to a Parisian suburb!
