My husband and I couldn't live without the Lindam Night & Day Feeding System. This has been a life saver! Our bedroom and the nursery are both upstairs and the feeding system saved us many night time trips downstairs into the cold kitchen.

Right now my daughter's favorite toy is the Fisher-Price Baby Grand Piano (she's 13 months old). She loves it!

I'm not a mom yet, but I've cared for babies- I agree with the answer- toys are secondary- gotta cover the necesities first!!!

wet wipes, diaper rash ointment, disposable diapers!!, binky ( my mom-in-law calls it a "quiet token"), some kind of chair- stationary walker-type or bouncy-chair.

I cared for this one little girl- she liked to be held a lot... er a LOT!!!! I struggled with holding her and meeting the other children's needs... a wear-your-baby thing woulda come in handy...

Watch out for those swings i got one for my baby and the screws started coming loose and she almost flew out i contacted the company and the fully refunded me my money .. the best thing i counted on was the baby bouncer that vibrates !!!! she stopped crying as soon as i sat her down plus i could get a lot of work done

swings, big fancy $30- $40 dollar items to entertain babies. Changing tables aren't necessary.
All a baby needs is clothes, diapers, food, simple toys, a high chair and baby bed and parents willing to care for and spend time with them.

In the beginning: 3-in1 travel system, swing, and no schedules, and eventually a floor gym.

After 6 months: Exersaucer, baby gates, a healthy sense of "Momma done tole me they'd be days like this."

Toys are always secondary!!!

I couldn't live without clothes, bottles, feeding devices, bathing items, car seat, etc.

But, I would want that thing that goes in the crib that dangels in front of their eyes and plays music.
Then there is the needed chew toy.

The exersaucer I bought for my last son. He was SOOOOOO coliky and as he was getting better, this toy was AWESOME! I would like to invest in a monitor even though he is getting older. He now sleeps upstairs with older siblings so he is harder for me to hear if by chance he wakes up. He hasn't yet though.

Hmmm- for my 15 month old I'd have to say that Baby Tad is her favorite thing. It sings her to sleep, it occupies her in the car, she plays with it all day, and it teaches her shapes and colors.
For my 1 week old; so far I just love the bassinet which vibrates. :)
