Sorry, but there are actually 66 books in the conventional Bible. The Catholic Bible has a few more.

The Old Testament (39 books) is the foundation upon which the New Testament (27 books) rests. If the Old Testament is removed or not accepted by Christians, then Christians CANNOT accept the New Testament. O.T. predicted Jesus; N.T. shows that fulfillment.

Another parallel : if you think of the New Testament as the two wings of a jet, then the Old testament may be compared to the three or four jet engines. Both (wings and engines) are needed to complete the picture, and neither one is more important than the other.

You may hear some Christians say the New Testament is for Christians and the Old Testament was for the Jews. Nothing could be further from the truth, AS IT RELATES TO CHRISTIANS.

The Bible has two books in one. The old testament before the birth of Jesus Christ. The new testament after the birth of Jesus Christ. Some Christians relay more on the new testament-others consider both of equal importance! I think that one without the other would not have the same meaning! The entire Bible is what I feel is important!

Actually when one does study the old and New Testament and the history surounding it, you will find that the Old Testament compliments the New testament and visa versa. The New Testament deals with after the birth of Christ the Old Testament is before that most important day in history and leading up to it. Its all true though if you did yur research deep enough you would know.

Christianity is founded on The New Testament, the Word of Christ.

With this as its Revelation, Christianity thus came into being.

The Old Testament does not apply to Christians, despite its acceptance as Bibical Truth.

The Old Testament predicts events in The New Testament, even back to the names of the Patriarchs from Adam to Noah. Every book of The Old Testament points to Jesus Christ, who is revealed in The New Testament.

Christians share the "Old Testament" with the Jews.
The "New Testament" is strictly Christian.
There are not only two books, but some dozens of them, of which some make the OT, and the rest the NT. "Biblia" in Greek means books, in plural.
The reason for which Christians still revere the OT, although they rely more on the NT, is that Jesus Christ said: "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." (Matthew 5:17)

The Old Testament is the Laws that pointed to a coming Messiah, or Saviour. It also contains histories, poetry to God's greatness.

The OT gives the law, and demonstrates that no man can ever be completely perfect and needs God to intervene if imperfect man is to be reconcilled toa perfect God.

The New Testament, NT, is the story of the Messiah promised in the OT. It tells of his birth, life, and death. It records His miracles and the resurrection after His crucifixtion. Since Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for man's sins man does not have to be perfect to be reconcilled with God. But out of gratitude for God's Son Christians strive to live as perfectly as they are able and ask for forgiveness when they fall short.

They dance back and forth, picking and choosing what will support their positions. When confronted with an issue that contradicts their arguments supported by the New Testament, the run to the Old Testament. When the Old Testament disproves their position, they claim that Jesus invalidated the it.
