Does anyone know the real reason why the chicken crossed the road.

What I've heard is that the joke comes from people who dared drunk people to cross busy roads. They were called 'Chickens' for not crossing the road (like being called scaredy-cat), so the actual answer to why did the chicken cross the road is 'because he was drunk!'

Yeah, so he could get ran over by a car so he can stop hearing everyone ask why the hell did he cross the road. That's the real reason why but no one tells you.

A chicken was waiting to cross a busy road when he saw another chicken on the other side of the road.
He called out "Cluck Cluck Cluck" which roughly translated means "How do I get to the other side?"
The other chicken called back "Cluckerty cluck cluck" which means "You are on the other side"
