The simple answer is "No."
The more complex answer to this question which has many ramifications and implications is "No!"
How long are you going to be 2000 miles apart? How long have you been 2000 miles apart? How did you meet? If you are only going to be apart for a few weeks, then the answer is "possibly".

It is always nice to know someone loves you, but you must be realistic..
If you are planning to join him in the near future and you have already established a good solid relationship, then yes it will work.
If this is a case where you two don't know each other very well and haven't dated much, then no...
A person can put too much emphasis and expectations on the long distance relationship...
It is very difficult to go about your normal life and not get lonely for the person you are pinning for who lives so far away.....
You get lonely and soon hook up with someone else, all the time keeping this hope of a relationship from afar...
It is not fair to either person to hold onto something that will never go anywhere, and something that will usually end up being a disappointment...
If at some later time , you are living in the same place and want to date, do it, but for now , get on with your life and don't waste it sitting around and waiting for something that may never happen....

I believe they can work for a short term .But you have to be a strong minded, self loving, confident person.Your partner must be equally yoked. Then you must no how to communicate and express yourself.I believe absent makes the heart grow fonder and there is nothing better then planning for your reunion. The end results would be total togetherness and commitment to each other.

It will only work if you let it . Some people can do it and some cannot . If you both love each other and want to be together it will work out between the both of you. Good Luck
