Theoretically, both wires are the same, as long as you remember which one goes to where. If connect the marked (the one that has writing on) to the + terminal of the sub, then that wire goes to the + terminal of the power amp. So does the unmarked one. Usually, the marked one is used as +.
Practically that doesn't matter, what matters is the overall phase of the system. Try this, listen to some music with heavy mid bass punch, listen on the driver's seat (or anywhere you want the system to sound the best), and ask a friend to help you change the + and - cable connected (can be the one at the sub or at the power amp, whichever easier). Just listen which one give you the loudest and even bass, that's the right connection.

It does not matter, (they are equal), so long as you hook up the same cable to the positive connection on both the output of the stereo and input on the sub.

first connect the ends to your amp. Next touch the wires to the sub and listen for bass response. You will notice the bass get deeper if the connections are correct, or the sound may distort if connections are reverse.

the easiest way is to put a 1.5 volt battery directly on wires to speaker if it makes the speaker pop up its positive the way the batterie shows you know the batterie has a +and a-if you reverse it you will see the speaker sink inward tie some speaker wire to terminals on speaker then put the ends on the battery side when you see the speaker pop up thats positive look at sign on battery then you will know wich way is right.

it does matter because if you reverse the polarity the sub beats backwards. usualy if you are looking at the sub from behind the possitive termininal is on the left .
