i have t he opposite in my living room, my walls are olive green sage,
the best collours that go with sage are
cranberrys
chcolate browns
ivory
butter yellow
some canary yellows
purples
know this by doing my coloring and matching in my home.....use the colour wheel and go oppostie side as sage colour is on(greens) that is how you compliment the colour
if you want to blend, then you should use ivorys, and buttermilks..............
good luck.
dont forget to look at colour wheel in homedepot or whatever paint store you go to... to get an idea, BUT NEVER USE COLOUR ON SAME SIDE, will not compliment and will be an eye sore eventually

I have a sage green sofa and chair in my livingroom. I painted my walls only one shade darker than the sofa and chair to make a neutral background. Then I began to add my accessories. I used a dusty red colour for a couple of throw pillows and a matching throw. I used a cream and sage 'ticking' fabric for two more bolster pillows on the couch. I used a forrest green brocade for my draperies. Any metal in the room is a polished nickel and all of my wood furniture in the room is black. The carpet is a parchment color. I used colorful Haitian art to liven up the walls. I threw in a couple of overstuffed chocolate leather library chairs and now I get nothing but compliments. I painted the walls nearly the same as the couch so I would have a solid neutral background - that way I can changes the pillows, throws, and art when I want a change. Hope this Helps!

A basic tan in the same shade (not darker or lighter than) your sage would work. Have you thought about slipcovers instead of buying new couches? Also a good idea to help bring n more colors would be to let yourself splurge on some throw pillows for the couch or a throw blanket. If you find a pattern or color scheme on one of those you could pull the paint color from there. Remember it's just paint - have fun with it.

earth tones are great to work with so keep your sofa. There are a lot of questions to ask yourself when you are picking paint colors. We know that you have sage so build around that. What color is the wood work in that room? What color are the floors in that room? How about windows? are there any? What are the window treatments? What color are they? What color are your window frames? Depending on what state you are in I could e-mail you some color chip numbers to look at and see if you like them.
earth tones are really fun to work with and if you take into consideration all of the questions above your room will really come together nicely.

U can try almost anything from the beige family. I would like to say a more golden color leaning to the yellow. Not a bright one but a golden yellow would look nice. Also u can try white r a bold color with the red family. U can also get a green depending what shade u r doing. Best bet is nice carmel color with golden r silver trim in pillows, rugs r curtains. Have fun.

For the walls I would go with a "French Vanilla" it is a beautiful color. Gold and burgundy are good contrasting colors to add to this through pillows and accessories. Spend the money on the paint and then shop at your local "Thrift" stores for your accessories. You can buy picture frames for a fraction of the retail price and if you don't like the colors, just go to a "Dollar" store and buy some cheap spray paint and paint them to match your room too! Have fun decorating!!!

Why not a clay-ish type color -- I mean like terra cotta -- a reddish brown, only lighter...It depends on the kind of "feel" you want to create -- if you like earthy tones, I would suggest more in the rust / clay family of hues. With various accessories, you could bring out different colors within the scheme -- like desert-types colors -- like in a rug, pillows, vase / flowers etc. A range from teals / sage, and rusts, beige, clay---think of the beautiful contrast in coral and turquoise!

Your sofa is quite a nice color and the sage green is warm enough to go with a number of other warm colors.
Choose a WARM grey off-white for the walls with white trim and deep red accents. Throw in black in the form of black wood or metal frame coffee or side tables AND we introduce a really shiny mercury glass lamp to give it another surface texture.

I did my living room with a leather look on the walls. Its wonderful, The color is a chocolate brown, with cream for base,
If your walls are textured this treatment is easy, takes 2 days, but wonderful results. Everyone who comes in says wow, is that real.
Its cool, and my sage sofa covers go great with it.
Ya its dark. But nice, I have hard wood floors too, it just made the pop.

If you like earthy colors, then go with a "mushroom" shade. Use white trim on the baseboards and molding. Bright orange accents (candles, flowers, pillows)would really pop in this room.
