All the birth control ads I see and hear about say, "not safe for women with a history of blood clots". What are those women to do?!

I looked it up and it seems like you need to stay away from estrogen! So Paraguard IUD might be good and even mirena (mirena has the other hormone) . The nuva ring has 1/3 of t he estrogen that the pill has!

Rather drastic and expensive, but the most effective would be to have some eggs, a doctor could advise on the best number, collected from her and cryogenically stored. She could then undergo a tubal ligation which would give absolute birth control. The frozen eggs could then be used for artificial insemination when she finds the suitable breeding partner and implanted in her so that she would be both donor and host mother.

If this is out of the question her doctor would be the best person to answer the question as s/he has her total medical history. There is of course always abstention but the question implies this is not a viable solution.

Ask your Dr if an IUD would be right for you. I have the Mirena and I love it.
