Pat the leaves dry with a paper towel, then put them in a "ziploc" bag. Expel all the air as you close it. Basil leaves frozen this way will be good for up to three months.

Try freezing the basil in ice cube trays. Put a sprig of basil in each cube section fill with water and freeze. To use, just pop whatever cubes of basil you will need for whatever you are cooking.

My mom always puts fresh herbs in ice cube trays with water in the freezer. Then when you want to add the herbs to sauces and stuff you just throw in an ice cube.

They will turn black if you freeze them. Herbs are always better if dried.
