In answering your question from experience, yes at first they are wondering why your not there, but soon fall in to the daily routine, they know what time your home, Just make sure you doggy proof the house, take temptation away keep door closed so they do not get in to things, sometimes they do get bored so make sure there are toys to play with, don't give them free range of the house, keep them in a safe place, they adapt quite quickly. Also depends on the breed of dog you should not expect a large breed dog to stay inside when they should be out side, sometimes it helps to have two they keep each other company. My dogs sleep most of time i am gone when they were puppy's they got into stuff and chew that is teething and boredom, they grew out of it, If you have friends with pets ask them what they have experienced, sometimes pet sitting gives you the answer your looking for. Dog are super smart, just make sure your dog has some obedience and they know your alfa dog. What ever you decided good luck.

Dogs dont just lay down and sleep like a cat. They get bored easily and then can possibly be destructive, especially if they are young. Another problem with dogs is they can develop a problem called separation anxiety. When you leave, they dont think you will ever come home and they cry, whine, howl, bark. Dogs do better when they have some company and a lot of attention.

It depends on the dogs breed and temperament. MY dog is a shih-tzu. They are a small breed dog that were originally bred to lay around and be lap dogs. When I am no home my dog normally is alseep or laying around being lazy. If you get a terrier, which is high energy, they will chew, bark, and generally be spastic while you are away. Age also plays a role in their behavior. Puppies are more likely to chew or be destructive or use the bathroom in the house, whil older dogs can hold it in and are normally content to wait for you. Most dogs adjust well to being home alone. I suggest crate training. It keeps your dog safe and your home.

I had three dogs at one time so I can feel your nervousness. It all depends on how well you leave the dog. Give him/her at least a 1 hour walk before you leave for work. It's the best way dog owners bond with their dogs and it keeps the dog calm the rest of the day. By giving them this exercise, you are not only helping yourself by getting a little exercise, but you are also preparing your dog for "rest mode." He/she will sleep most of the day and will keep him/her from barking and wining after you. Good luck :)

I have three dogs. I am at school and my parents are at work.
When we are gone they are running around in the backyard. yet at first when they hear our car leaving they start whining and barking. they know the sounds of our cars so when we come home they know it is us.
If you are thinking about getting one dog it might be harder for it to
adjust because it will be lonely.
It is more than one dog they will be digging, playing tug a war or sleeping. If you give them bones to chew on they probably would settle down.

I HOPE I HELPED .

It depends on the Dog really. Some Dogs will LOVE to destroy your house, others will just sleep most of the day.
So basically it all depends on the Dog it's self.

Hope I could help ^_^

Most dogs sleep, or watch thru the window what's going on outside, some will chew on their toys and/or on a bone, but they mostly sleep.

I have an inside dog and while I'm gone she does fine. I believe they just lay around and sleep. Also she chews those little rawhide bones.

Depends on your dog's personality. I have one sheltie that destroys things because she has separation anxiety. So we have to pen her when we're gone. She's much happier, less stressed.

And then my other sheltie...according to various neighbors, they say that he sits at my back window looking out or he is barking.

If it's a young dog, I wouldn't trust it to roam free until it becomes acclimated with you and your house.

Best wishes!
