If so, what was the test? If there is no test, why do we let doctors tell us that we need medication for a chemical imbalance that may be something else or nothing but normal mood flucutions?

Blood Lithium Levels for a psych patient when I was the medical technologist in a lab.. serotonin levels from the CSF or its metabolite in the urine.. there are tests.. but why do these tests when personal history of a patient is enough in diagnosing most psychiatric disorders?

I don't think there is a test yet. The doctors go by symptoms and family history.

I had a chemical imbalance in my brain..i was taking lithium....is it normal mood fluctuations or "bipolar". who knows...lol
