Take the MTR, it's fast and cheap if you get a pass, taxis are cheap and everywhere, don't spend a lot on hotel because you'll be out all day...
Just hang around Yau Ma Tei and Mongkok districts in the heart of Kowloon, shop and bargain til you drop at the Temple Street Market & the Ladies Market, take a day trip to Lantau Island (MTR goes there) to see the Giant Buddha at Po Lin monastery and take a long walk to Lantau Peak and loop all the way to Tung Chung, if you have time go visit the Tai O fishing village with houses on stilts, take the ferry across the harbour from HK to Kowloon for a few HK$, buy yourself a real Rolex and a fake one for rainy days, take the cable tram to the Peak, have a blast at JJ's, try anything you see that the locals eat...

I lived there for four years until 2004. It is a wonderful city, but indeed very smoggy now.
Places to see: Lan Kwai Fong at night. Lots of good eating and nightlife. Nathan Road in Kowloon (preferably at night). Temple Street Market (it's only open at night - take the subway to Jordon stop). Hong Kong park (good views of the city), Mong Kok (most densely populated place on earth), Tin Hau temple. Definitely go to the outlying islands. Seafood lunch or dinner at Lamma Island. Cheung Chau is nice. And definitely see the Po Lin Monastary on Lantau Island (take ferry to Mui Wo, then catch a bus - the bus stand is right there as you get off the ferry. There's also a nice cafe at Mui Wo called "China Bear.")
On second thought, one warning if you're male: be careful of the "lady drinks" and other propositions at the girly bars in Wan Chai.

Weather will be colder in nov so bring along some thick clothings. also, reserve a full day for ur disney trip cos queueing up is gonna take up alot of your time there. Should also go to The Peak and Ngong Ping 360 (just open recently), you will get great views of hong kong there. Another must-go place is the Ocean park. Hope you enjoy ur trip there :)

It's a very beautiful place. I went there last March. It's very smoggy, though, at least it was when I was there. There are some great things to do: I reccomend the Jumbo Floating Restaurant (http://www.jumbo.com.hk/)
Also, the markets are awesome. You can barter which is really fun.
