Maybe your friend is growing up intellectually and challenges things he is expected to blindly accept.
Perhaps you both could try "Rational Spirituality" on the Dhaxem website. It is an entirely logical concept, a knowledge of God and the Universe, shared by the thinking people. Then, tell me what you think. It certainly changed my life.

Interesting Question. I commend you for posing this sort of question because I am sure your friend is not the only one who is in this dilemma. Man-made books is not the solution to figuring out whether God exists. The best solution is God's Word the Holy Bible.
There are other questions that can be answered in a somewhat similar way. For instance, does gravit exist, even though I cannot see it with the naked eye? Does the wind exist, even though I cannot see it with the naked eye? The answers to both of these questions is yes, but why can I say that? Because we see the effects of gravity. That gravity keeps us on the ground. If we defy or go against gravity, bad things can happen. In terms of the wind, we see its effects when it blows things around.
Similarly, even though we cannot see God, he does exist. Are there sound reasons for believing in God? Take a look outside and look at your anatomy, that is, the human body. To illustrate: When we see a camera, a radio, or a computer, we readily acknowledge that it must have been produced by an intelligent designer. Would it be reasonable, then, to say that far more complex things - the eye, the ear, and the human brain - did not originate with an intelligent designer?
Just as you and I have a personal name, did you know that God has one too? Psalm 83:18 says that God's personal name is Jehovah and He is the Most High over all the earth. Jehovah means "He Causes To Become." Most translations have taken out "Jehovah" and replaced it with "LORD, God, etc." Lord and God are just titles, like "King, President and Prime Minister."
Are there sound reasons for believing in Jehovah? Psalm 19:1 says "the heavens are declaring the glory of God; and of the work of his hands, the expanse is telling." Psalm 104:24 says, "How many your works are, O Jehovah! All of them in wisdom you have made. The earth is full of your productions." Just look at the trees [and how they are able to change colors seasonally, lose their leaves in the winter and then grows new leaves come springtime] and the animals (the land, air and water dwellers) and how they are made. Note that all animals act based on instinct. Humans are the only creatures that have free will, or the right to chose and reason. Animals cannot praise God, only humans can. There are countless species of animals, plants, fruits, trees that we don't know that Jehovah knows. There are parts of the human body that we may not have known exist in our system, but its there. Can you imagine if our head was where our feet are and our heart where our pelvic area is? Certainly not. That is why 1 Corinthians 14:33 says, "For God is [a God], not of disorder, but of peace." This scripture mentions how Jehovah is a God of order and certainly, the things that he has made has an order to it. Just one last example is the way life forms.
When a woman is pregnant, it starts out as a tiny embryo, about the size of a seed, then it develops and the woman goes through 3 trimesters (9 months) and the embryo turns into a fetus and after 9 months, that newborn comes out of the womb and life begins. It is a marvel if you have ever been in a delivery room and seeing that. There are times that babies come out prematurely. That has nothing to deal with Jehovah God, but can be genetic, environmental or the woman not taking care of herself while pregnant. I hope this sheds some light on your friend and existence that God exists. Thanks,

iight this is what i can tell you from having delt with this same experience... if she says she doesn't see you like a boyfriend then chances are she really doesn't. she might see you like the brother she never had (if shes an only child) or the only guy she can trust and she is scared to break this sacred bond of friendship. now don't go up to her saying oh is it because your scared or don't question her to much because there is a point where she will get irritated. Just let things be the way they are and enjoy having a friend who cares about you as much as she does. and as for the lap thing don't look too far into it it all depends on the person and the way they are. you are her friend and she didn't want to see you uncomfortable...and she saw you were tired so she started rubbing you...that's isn't anything big these days...just be careful don't take the wrong path...if she says no give her space...maybe she just needs time getting used to the idea. maybe you had a chance but didn't realize it. whatever you do don't abuse it, she is your friend and in the long run it is better to have atleast one true friend in the world, than a bunch of good ones... believe me...i went through this same thing for the last three years... friendship is sacred Young but Wise

If nobody since the stone age has been able to prove the existance of any of the thousands of Gods that have been worshipped, I'm sure that your friend is not going to get his proof now. Oh sure, preachers will give him what they call proof - - - it says right here in this book, that's proof enough.

try this one. there is no one who has ever seen the wind, yet everyone has seen the effects of the wind so therefore the wind exists. look at the glories in the heavens and upon the earth. these are the handiwork's of GOD. these are the proof that GOD exists yet like the wind GOD is invisible to all mortals 5 senses.

Firenze,
Your friend is truly needing to ask God for that. If he is unwilling, then I guess that he does not know God. God reveals Himself only to those that He wants. If your friend wants it bad enough, the only one who can prove God to him is God.
If you want to help your friend, focus on the relationship of God and man, and the way to approach God.
Either that or perhaps your friend is just playing the fool, or he doesnt really know what he needs to know, about being a Christian.

There are plenty of proves around us, the way we are designed, how our organism works, the whole creation, the Bible, etc. But if what he wants is a scientifical proof, sorry, there are not many.
He and you should both begin a truly seek og God, praying and studing the Bible (not just attending church one day a week) and you will find him, spiritual things are understood by faith, not by sight.

Encourage him to read about both sides of the issue. He could try Mere Christianity, by C.S. Lewis and The Demon-Haunted World, by Carl Sagan.

The Christian God is only supported by a supposed divine revelation in holy scripture. The choices are limited therefore-you either believe scripture or cease regarding yourself as a Christian.

Many people go through the same thing. He just needs to pray and ask God to help him feel Him again. Doubts will happen, the important thing is to be there when your friend needs you. Provide him with scripture that will help him and pray.
