my dad died 15 years ago i was 7 now im 22 i have a family of my own. i love tattoos but hate memorial tats with R.I.P with name and DOB, DOD. and crosses i'm not religious i can't remember much, everything is pretty fuzzy.he was into fishing and hunting and watch boxing and offroading but i don't want a fish a deer head on my back or boxing glove then it would give the impretion he was a boxer nor his truck he died in his truck i don't want that.

The reason you are getting a tattoo is because your souls is connected to your dad´s. The main thing here is that you love ( not loveD wich is the memorial you hate), you love music, and your roots are aztec=warrior, and Marley´s music wich is orange red and green.
The ONLY think you are there for, is a mix of the basic elements on your explanations...
The warrior, the colors and the Marleys sounds are the three Esssences of your past and present.
Check Marlesy hair and expression at
http://www.tattoos-by-design.co.uk/rate_my_tattoo/tattoos/viewtatoo.asp?ID=2392
The aztec fire is the inverse of Marleys hair...( wich has the messagge I m not like the others, my people in my religion, I am tmy worlds warrior)
look this here:
http://www.rankmytattoos.com/Arizona/Phoenix/2862.html
I suggest you take those two elements and have a fusion made with some ancient elements from:
http://www.azteca.net/aztec/prehisp/mendocino.html
The ancestors, including your dad, will be corresponded when you honer them and your thoughts in your skin. This is a forever thing.

You could get a Bob Marley lyric in some great lettering. One love One life. Bob has so many great lyrics. Memorial tattoos are hard because any time someone sees that tattoo you are going to have to talk about your father. Are you ready to do that?
Another suggestion is it sounds like he was a person that loved the outdoors. What about a outdoor scene? a sunset, a night sky, etc. Is there any symbol from your Indian Aztec background that has a special meaning to you? or to him? Maybe you could ask around to people in your family. Memorial tats are a great way to remember people you have lost, and to get to know them again. Talking to your family might be hard, but it might be a great way to bring back some memories that you don't remember. Good luck, I am sorry for your loss.

How about going to an on-line encyclopedia re: Aztec symbols. I have one for my son which is the "Cameron" clan badge - 5 arrows usually tied together with a belt or piece of rope. I put an Air Force star instead. Now that my Dad has passed - I'm going to have them use that star and incorporate it into the symbol for the 8th Air Force. (A winged 8) The two will be together - as they should be. My son's initials are under the arrows. I'll add my Dad's and his dates now, too.
The Clan badge is Scottish and the 5 arrows represent the 5 Cameron clans which came together in the early 1700's. It's his middle name - an old family name.

Angel wings, maybe with "Dad" witten under or between the wings, you can put wings on the sides of anything to symbolize a memorial. It sounds like you might want to add something cultural, maybe throw in some musical notes to symboloze the music you remember his listening too. There are so many ideas. Sorry about your loss. Good luck in your search

Take some time to think. All my tats for a family member respresents them or a memory of them some how. I have NO names on me nor dates. My Cherokee Star is for my grandmother - she was Cherokee & had the star above the door in her home to bless all those who walk n & out it. I always remembered looking up at it every time I left - her guidance went with me. Find an artist & explain to them what your wanting & don't want. They will ask you questions to help them do a design. If they do something you don't like or want to change tell them. They want the finished work to be what YOU want & show their artistry. Word of mouth & finished results for them results in more work.

Maybe just his initials or where he was born. If you can recall your first memory of your Dad, or maybe your last or your favorite. Is there a phrase or saying that he used a lot? You could abbreviate it or just take one or two words out of it. Did he give you any advice? .

I won't be around to see it 30 or 40 years from now with all these wrinkled old broads walking around with tattoos. Especially the ones who have a heart tattooed on their rump.
A heart with waves. LMAO
