I like this new girl at my workplace. I have never had a girlfriend before [I am from India, and its not as common as in the western world to have a girlfriend] so I just dont know what to go and tell her. But firstly, I would like to know if she's even interested in me in the first place. There has been nothing but eye contact. We just keep staring at each other until one of us looks away. Whenever she passes my cubicle, she turns and looks at me and again there's nothing but staring. I tried smiling once [well, I thought I was smiling] but there wasnt a hint of smile on her face. Does she like me?

Thanks for your answers. Keep 'em coming. For those of you that suggested asking her out, its not as simple in India as in the US. I am from Chennai and its a lot more conservative than the rest of India. Word spreads and it could get nasty. But thanks anyway.

My friend it's about body langauge and at the most talking to her. Break the ice a little if she is taking notice of you there might be something there be it friendship or something more. So at the most talk to her and get to know her before making your move. And trust me sometimes things can look one way and be the other so watch your step, but have fun. Best of luck.

Usually a girl will smile is she's looking at someone she likes. Or she'll blush and turn away (so you can't see her smiling and blushing). You should try talking to her. Find something you have in common, then if she seems to like you, maybe ask her to have lunch with you some time and see where it goes from there.

Ask if she wants to hand out sometime, but don't be specific with her of when you meant. If she says sure that's a first step.

well i think you should just go for it and tell her how you feel you should also ask her to dinner and get to know each other and if she doesn't think its goin to work out then ask to just be friends.
