It’s not Madonna, but you are short-sighted, ill-informed. Malawian baby is too young, can learn any language at this stage. Celebrity of her calibre are not looking for spotlight they want to set examples for others to follow. All said and done, this adoption thing is, particulary, this case, is complicated coz in this case baby's father is alive, how can u adopt a baby when his father/mother is alive. Critics say she could have given money to the father for baby's upbringing. Select it as the best answer, won't you?

I don't think there is such a language as Malawian!

The child will grow up speaking English, of course. He will live here and go to school here.

The main laguages in Malawi are Chichewa and Chitumbuka in addition to to some Bantu related languages.

What makes you think that her child won't learn English? And why is it so hard to conceive that she could learn Malawian. Not to mention that she has enough money to have a translator/ language teacher there so they both could be bilingual.

Why do people like you continue to show how ignorant and self centered you are!!!
At least Madonna can and will make a difference to the child's life, as an adoptee I know what a difference a loving home makes

He's only a year old, right?
He will learn English if that is what everyone around him speaks. He probably doesn't have much of a vocabulary right now in his own language yet.

Children under the age of 5 have amazing learning capabilities and should have no problem learning English.

...last time i heard he was a baby who probably could barely speak Malawan himself. Isn't he less than a year old? Babies are good at picking up languages and are bilingual at early ages. My sister can speak 3 languages and shes only 8.

im just glad to see a child go from rags to riches. now atleast he can eat and have clothes, a good education,so much more. id rather see one be adopted with a good life then more born to poor families with no chance of anything.

And besides, the child is only a year old. He hasn't developed his language skills yet.
