not every obese person just sits around and stuffs their face constantly..they also may have an eating disorder, but society will not recognize that at all! All society does is "feel sorry" for someone who is anorexic and have "disgust" for someone who is obese.

Society has this "ideal" person in their minds and anything other then that idea is wrong. A person with anorexia is considered to be trying to fit into this ideal world and they feel sorry for them. I agree 100% that obesity is an eating disorder but I truly don't think society in general will ever see that. Just think, 300 years ago an overweight woman was sought after because it meant that she had the money to keep herself well-fed. Now, people think it is disgusting. 300 years ago, very pale people were thought to be the ideal person because it meant that they were able to sit indoors all day and not have to work outside of the home. Now, a tan woman is ideal. Society just flows with the current trend and I don't think enough people are strong enough to step out of the crowd and think for themselves. It is very sad.

Thats true not every obese person is that way..In fact, i am obese and my problem was an eating disorder at a young age along with a newly found milk allergy...the eating disorder is called compulsive-binging disorder...Society has grown to be very prejudicial and stereotypical, going the flow of a twisted form of fashion and ethics...the main thing to live upon this mortal world is to be who you are, and ignore what the world says, this mortal world is all about perspective....

Obese people are being recognized as having eating disorders as well. There are some who truly have other diseases that spurred on their weight gain, but that is a minority. Hopefully, society will change their attitude toward this even more, the people just need to be educated.

Being overweight is said to be a eating disorder also. Not just bulimia/anorexia. All are just one extreme or the other. Most overweight people are not just fat slobs.

I consider overeating a disorder, and so does the medical community. "Society" just takes longer to catch on to things that regard their health, they're more interested in gossip and mudslinging politics.
