it's a good idea to have rest days. it gives the worn down muscle a chance to rebuild and usually gives better results than working the same muscle everyday. on alternate days, try something else, work on your legs for example.

You actually won't get a six pick just from doing crunches, you would also have to work on you side abs and stuff. Crunches just give you like a 2 pack. And push ups don't do anything for your abs but they will make your chest jacked

Abs are the only exception to the "wait 48 hours for muscles to heal" rule. You should do crunches or other ab exercises every day. I don't believe the same is true of push ups though...those should probably be saved for every other day for maximum effectiveness.

Well just as long as you're not pushing yourelf too hard, ther's nothing wrong! I start doing about 25-50, and as I build up a tolerance, I move up to 50-75, 75-100, and so on and so forth. You shouldn't start out with just straight out 100, i can tell you that.

Yes, that is true what you read. But since pushups and situps are not very stressful and 100 reps is not a lot. You might want to do like 2 days on and 1 day off routine.

fast twitch muscles like abs, calves and forearms can be worked out every day....they recover much faster than other larger muscles. if you can do 100 pushups in a day then it's probably safe to do them everday...but if you can only do a few at a time...i wouldn't recommend doing 100 every day

what you need to do is to start with maybe thirty sit ups and push ups a day and then higher the number gradually so then when you get to 100 it wont be as strenous on your muscles. :]

I remember in gym class saying that you should work out your upper body one day and the lower body the next day. Since push ups and sit ups are both considered upper body you can work them both the same day but every other day...Not everyday. My boy-friend works out and that's how he does it, but with weights. If you're a beginner you can't do it with weights and don't do more than what your body can't take. He told me it's not good to feel pain. But its normal to feel muscle pain the day after you first work them out. Be sure to stretch your arms before and after you do push-ups. Also stretch out your abdominal/stomach before and after you do sit-ups. Enjoy your work-out and good luck.

100 each? that's nothing, if anything that sounds boring. you could probably do that in 4 minutes or less.
I'd prefer getting a better workout routine (splitting up your workouts, allowing your muscles to rest). you'd getter better results that way.

muscles need at least a 24 hour resting period if you are using weights that is. All &any other excercise is just fine to do daily and it is very good for you.
