Yes, you need a Social Security number to work and all employers will ask if you have a Social Security number, if not, they won't let you work at all. Also, you need the Social Security number to file for taxes at the end of the year. Even legal immigrants need to pay taxes. The employment authorization card just gives a legal immigrant the authorization to work in the United States. To be on the safe side, apply for a Social Security number and when you get hired, show both the Social Security card and the employment authorization card to the employer.

Yes. However, you can get one by taking your card to the Social Security office. It is no big deal.

Your EA card establishes your identity and eligibility to work, but you do need the SS#. If you go to the SS office they will give you a card with your name and number but it will say "Not valid for work eligibility." I work on immigration issues in a large state department and we hire many, many people with EA cards. We ask for the SS# as we are required to track people's benefits and wages via SS#, but it is their EA card that allows us to hire them.
Good luck to you!

Yes... that is a requirement for work. The employer must have your SSN to pay taxes and to report your earnings to the IRS.
