For the record, I lost 35 lbs. through a balanced diet and regular exercise. However, a couple of years ago, I took One-A-Day weight smart for a few days and on the third day, it made me ill.

Why do these things make some people feel sick rather than lose weight? What's in these diet pills anyway? Anyone have any similar experiences?

the answer to your question is...that most supplements are garbage and that's why you feel sick...they are synthetic or fractionated vitamins which means they weren't derived from a natural, whole-food...eg. most vitamin C in supplements is listed as Ascorbic Acid. more than 90% of all ascorbic acid in supplements is a by-product of the corn industry. and anyone who knows anything about corn knows corn doesn't contain vitamin C...so how can ascorbic acid be vitamin C? i'm glad you asked that. the answer is...ascorbic acid isn't vitamin C. another example is Total cereal that lists having 100% of the daily recommended allowances of several vitamins and minerals...one of which is iron. if you grind up total cereal and run a magnet through it you'll find the iron in it is iron filings...hardly a source of iron your body could ever assimilate. the answer then is never eat a vitamin or supplement unless it originates from a whole-food. in the case of vitamin C...the source should be listed as coming from oranges or acerola cherries, etc...
