christmas, halloween, and easter. I don't celebrate them because of christianity, but for reasons of family. However, all of these holidays were stolen by the christians, so how can I be scrutinized when the true meanings of the holidays have nothing to do with christ?

OKay, I may not be what you call a christian, but I will tell you that you have been misinformed.
Christmas began because December 25 is the birthday of Jesus. This isn't a "stolen" holiday. The day Jesus was born, was the first CHRISTMAS.
As for Easter, I don't know the exact reason, but I know it has to do with the death of Jesus. Which again, is a CHRISTIAN holiday.
Halloween is not a christian holiday, and Christians have NEVER claimed it either.
I think that you should really look into these things a little more. Christmas isn't about an old man in a red suit like you probably believe. Jesus came way before him, and Christmas was around way before Santa too.
As for the "Easter Bunny" well that has really nothing to do with the actual Easter Holiday.
Today most of these holidays aren't seen for their ACTUAL meanings. Media and other things have made sure of that. Now Holidays are mostly about family. And since that is the current belief for most people, don't worry. Spend time with your family!! Enjoy your Holidays!!!!

LMAO@ all of these holidays were stolen by the christians

are you serious??!! Christmas is a CHRISTIAN holiday celebrating the BIRTH OF CHRIST! Don't like it? don't celebrate it , but you'll never change it! just shut your mouth and enjoy your free day off!

Origin of holiday
Although no one knows on which date Jesus was born, Christians have favored December 25 since ancient times. It is the date on which the Romans marked the winter solstice and it is nine months following the Festival of Annunciation (March 25). In ancient and early Medieval times, Christmas was either a minor feast, or not celebrated at all.

Around 220, the theologian Tertullian declared that Jesus died on March 25, AD 29. Although this is not a plausible date for the crucifixion, it does suggest that March 25 had significance for the church even before it was used as a basis to calculate Christmas. Modern scholars favor a crucifixion date of April 3, AD 33 (also the date of a partial lunar eclipse).[2] (These are Julian calendar dates. Subtract two days for a Gregorian date.)

With the exception of Halloween...the origin of these RELIGIOUS holidays are Christianity. I don't understand why you celebrate the birth and Resurrection of a man you don't believe in. That is like having a birthday party for your child's imaginary friend. We didn't STEAL these holidays ...we FOUNDED them. You are scrutinized because you want to be on both sides of the fence.

no actually the Christians came up with these holidays. Every single one of them.... but then wordly people had to come and ruin it and turn every Holiday involving God to something so secular. Halloween was about celebratign the lives fo teh ones that died adn saying another yearly good bye but now its about withces and devisl adn magic adn sorcery and death adn ghost and monsters. How is that Chrsitian-like? And hten Chrsitmasn was about the day that Jesus was bron but now is about being good nad receiving presents in return adnd that fable about Santa Claus. Its a selfish holiday about giving to receive and more. Then Easter was about Jesus' ressurection but now is about hiding and finding eggs and the easter bunny. ????????? What is this world???????? Why can't we keep anything that was originaly about God hte way it was??? Christians for u info came up with all these clebrations but teh world ahd to come and take awaya EVRYTHING that has to do with God.

Just as Christians modified these ancient holidays for their own use, you also are modifying them for your use. There's nothing wrong with that.
As a Christian I have no problem with your celebrating the holidays honestly in your own way.
Of course I wish you would get to know Christ, but that is another issue entirely.

Is the holiday Nazi giving you a hard time? To me its just another day off from work. I agree with you though in the Bible there is no mention of Christmas.. Its very much a man made tradition.

I'm an athiest and celebrate all of them too. Some people just like to think the world revolves around them.

Christians are the ones who should be questioned for these celebrations, not atheists.

Well, that... and being that you're an atheist, you know that what makes life special is the experience. Since nobody's taking it with them when they go, it's best to try and enjoy the life you have.

So why not celebrate then? :)
