You are much smarter than your first two responders, so I wonder why you bother to ask Y!A. Fact is, there are many groups who have common interests not necessarily shared by the general public. So why is it wrong for these people to get together and advance that shared and common interest???

C'mon people, we have the right to peaceful assembly equally as important as freedom of speech. So if I wanna get together with fellow poker buddies, fellow bird watchers, or just other men, why should anyone object to that???

The only possible reason (except for illegal activity) anyone would object to that is their own personal bias against someone else's rights. Then there are those who think their lives are complete to fantasize some organization doing something without them.

Depends on what the organization is and why they don't allow others. For example, La Leche is a league of breast feeding moms. Aside from helping people who are learning to breast feed (and yes, it is something that often does need help) they were ctive in having 'Mom's rooms' set up in public places so nursing moms would have a quiet place to feed their babies, and other things pertaining to breast feeding. A team of soccer dads wouldn't have much interest in that, so there's no problem with limiting it to nursing moms or moms who have nursed their children. Similarily, if various church groups didn't want to include people who don't believe the same as they do, or who are not willing to open their minds, there is no problem with excluding 'outsiders'. But if a political party wants to exclude people, that is a whole different matter, as our country is run by politicians. Similarly, if hospitals don't want to take in certain patients, that should not be allowed. Or if public schools don't want to take in certain students, that should also not be allowed. If parents are solid enough in their beliefs that they will pay for private schooling in that belief, then let them go to it, but the public schools must be open to all.
Does that answer your question?

It depends on the reasons.

What's the point of a boys club if girls are going to be allowed in? Or vice versa? It would be silly to insist that a boys club allow girls since the whole point is to give boys a chance to do things without girls.

Let's say, though, you had an organization for vegetarians and they decided to not allow Chinese women in. That would be discriminatory. There's no valid reason to not allow Chinese women in because the focus of the group is on vegeterianism.

it quite often depends.... a group like girl scouts, is generally for girls, because they learn skills that girls might need to know. Just like boyscouts teach boys stuff they would want to learn, sych things aren;'t bad. Also, segrgated team sports by gender and age are okay, for safety and fun. But organizations that just don;t incude one or two people, or exclude by rdace religion, etc... well that's not okay in my opinion

depends on the circumstances
for example,
is mensa gonna let someone who doesn't meet their qualifications in?

defeats the point doesnt it?

should the cubscouts let a 40 year old man join as a cub?

so, in some circumstances its perfectly acceptable,
now if a golf course isn't going to let you in due to your race, thats bad.
if a restraunt won't let you in do to your age, thats bad.

but, of course a bar can keep you out if you are under 21....

so, as I said, there is not a blanket answer,
it all depends on the circumstances.

Actually, I think it depends on what the group is. For instance, I prefer to go to women only gyms. Not because I hate men or because I think I'm better than them.

yes it is bad in general terms. It smacks of Elitism and is discriminatory. Both are bad.

If everyone practiced that sort of thing, communications between humans would fail and chaos would result.

Yes, I agree - they don't allow diversity or accept others' ideas. It would appear that all they want to do is suround themselves with people who will just agree with them. How small minded. They must be very frightened people.
