Oh yessss.. most definitely.. I have a few too many of them and they will "p**s on their territory as the saying goes. Invader's are harshly dealt with..although most times the invader is too big for them. Be careful, they will take on any size of animal if they feel intruded upon.
They are stubborn as can be, so you really have to work with this issue.
best of luck/
No, I don't find they are nasty toward people, they bark a lot, but usually run away if an unknown person comes too close. To the people they know and love..they are really friendly and lovey dovey..
I've owned different types, the females are more docile, the males are more playful in my experience.. The only incident I've ever had against another person, was someone walking past the house and my dog barked and headed toward him, but the guy started poking an umbrella at my dog....thus, the umbrella was almost shredded.

I have one and he is pretty territorial. He barks at anyone and everyone who has the nerve to walk down the street in front of our house. They are very good, smart dogs though

I have one who 13 yrs old. Mine isn"t territorial, but he is very stubborn and to smart for his own good. You should look up the different daschund breeds-- wether it is wire haired or long haired or short hair makes a difference on what they are like. I find most are very emotional. Mine is friendly and loves people, but we have a neighbor who had one , the same as ours and it wasn't as friendly. You need to be very firm and loving with them, as they will try and run the roost!!!
