I don't think kids should be able to date until they are 16 years old. At that age, they are able to work, have their driving permit (well, depending on what state you are in, I am in NY and a 16 year old can have their permit then). They have just started some responsibility, and see if dating at that age is one of them?! I think 12 and 13 is too young. If you are going to let them go out with friends, you should at least go with them on a supervised date. And I wouldn't make a habit of it though. I would encourage sleep overs and things like that. Having friends, being in after school activities, but not dating. They should be focusing on school, not dating. They already have too many pressures being a teenager. They should stay kids as long as possible!! That's just my opinion.

Sounds about right as long as it is not serious (invited to family gatherings, BBQ's, amusement parks, movies all with parental supervision). Your kids should be a few years older before any semi-serious dating starts 14-15-16. and even then it is just teenage dating. Once your kids begin semi-serious dating you should have the talk.

Ummmm...... this is a difficult question (especially for me who doesn't have kids)....... but, if I were in your shoes, they should be at least 15 years old to have boyfriends/girlfriends as long as there is no sex involved...... if they (the kids) think that having a boyfriend/girlfriend means they can become sexually active, then it is time for them to leave the house!!!! Hope this helps, Take care, JME

Just let them be. If you leave your kids alone they'll appreicate you more. You should control the decisions in their life yea they might seem young but let them be with the people they want to or dress the way they want or listen to what they want to. It's time they start expressing themselves.

It's up to you! At this age they'll probably have them anyway, just secretly from you. Maybe you can make it a rule that they can only go on group dates... that they have to have a phone on them at all times. I think the best bet is to let them but tell them it's your way or the highway... they follow the rules or they don't date.

i think high school is a good age...but in the beginning have many more boundaries and limitations..as each year goes along, allow them more space, as long as you KNOW your kids, they'll be fine...it is definately a learning experience and part of growing up so let them have SOME fun!
