One would think that if a god did exist and it wanted us to have oil, it would have just put it there. After all, if it could fart the entire universe into existence all at once, why go to all that trouble. Personally, the whole god schtick is a little much for a rational person to swallow.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that everything in the universe exists just for the sake of humanity. God made the universe for himself, so that he could enjoy it.

Maybe God thought that dinosaurs were cool.

The oil didn't come from the dinosaurs, it came from all the ferns that lived is the many rain forest Earth had back in those days.

Petrol did NOT come from the remains of animals, not according to current scientific theories. It is believed that petrol came from plankton, a sea-based micro plant.

Personally, I think God created the earth with the crude oil in it. Or to be more specific, with the materials that would later react with one another under specific conditions to produce crude oil. This is an alternative theory to the plankton theory. Based on the amount of oil and propane already removed from the earth and on the estimated reserve, it is inconceivable that ALL of that came from the decay of minute aquatic plants.

Seems kind of strange, don't it.
But it's more complicated than just a yes, one could make various arguments for or against your question, but in the long run...we do make petrol out of their carcasess. Did God know?...OMNIPOTENT?
I believe HE did.. ☺
