she went into the hospitol with bruised and swollen feet. the doctors at first (of course) thought she was abused. but tested for allergies, diabetes and other things. on day 2 they rulled out abuse because while in their care her arms and legs began to swell and bruise and now on day 3 her neck and face. they ruled out allergies and diabetes.
they thought it could be HSP...but have ruled that out as well. she seems to be in so much pain and they keep taking blood (which hurts her) and taking different test after different test. they can not find anything wrong. except that she is bruising and swelling in front of their eyes.
please if you have heard or seen anything like this before explain.
her circulation seems fine.....it's a mystery right now.
leaving the family feeling very helpless.
she has a twin brother who is healthy. he can not go to the hospitol to be with her due to it being rsv season. both babies obviously miss the other.
please help.

I can't seem to come up with any information. I tried searching the web with these symptoms, but to no avail. I'm taking a HUGE guess here, but is it possible the baby has liver damage? I know the most common sign of liver damage is usually jaundice though. And you'd think that would show up in the bloodwork anyway.

Does she take any medications? I did see that some meds can cause allergic reactions that MAY cause bruising and swelling. I'm sure the doctor is aware of any meds she's taking though.

I wish I could help you. I'm so sorry that I haven't been able to give you a direct answer. I'm hoping you might find some information by joining one of the following groups for information.

I am the Mother of a preemie who was born at 25 weeks. I can imagine how panicked the Mom of this little girl is right now. Again, I'm sorry I had no direct information for you; but I'm hoping that someone on one of those groups can give you some idea. GOOD LUCK. I will keep your niece and your entire family in my prayers.

Could it be Carbon Monoxide? I saw a show about that on the discovery channel where a man was in the hospital of the same symptoms. Sometimes Carbon Monoxide is present in the homes and we dont even know, The new law is to have a Carbon Monoxide detector in the home. I have to go and get one as soon as possible. wow im really sorry that your neice is in this condition.

I have never heard of this but I do know of many disease being reversed by using Glyconutrients. Please ask your Dr.,and you also can do some research for yourself. You have nothing to loose and everything to gain. Glyconutrients are a science and many doctors are using the products and having miracles results. Mannatech.org and glyconutrients.org are a couple of web sites. Sincerely banndeemer

Fibromyalgia??

A lot of fibromyalgia sufferers report that their skin actually hurts when it is touched. Referred to as allodynia, this sensitive skin can cause numerous problems, from redness and swelling, to bruising and scarring.

i doubt this is it, but my roommate has kidney failure. bruising and swelling happens to him if he doesn't go to his treatments.
