hello. i'm not a very confident person, though i'm trying to learn to be, as it is very hard. i was just wondering, i rarely receive compliments and reassurance from family and friends. this doesn't help my lack of self-confidence. it would be nice once in awhile if someone in my family could give me a hug and say "you know what you are a great daughter and im so proud of you and love you very much". i know my family loves me but we just don't tend to say it or show it.

maybe i have unrealistic expectations and am just setting myself up for sadness. is it up to me to make myself happy and feel confident about myself? i thought your family should be your backbone and add to your inner strength.

thanks.

I had the same kind of family, only more so. Felt bad for a lot of years, till I finally figured out to be good to myself and take care of me because I deserve it. When you reach this point, and you will, others will respond accordingly. Have you ever tried telling your family what you would like from them?

My parents were way too busy and too tired from work to have time for reassuring me, but it would have been nice. They did not even notice when I got A+ in Algebra and Physics.
I eventually found as I developed my skills and talents, that the people involved in the same things I was interested in reassured me. It turned out to be more gratifying to have someone who knew about those things appreciate me.

look you sound nice and very insecure but there is a saying if u laugh the world laughs with u but if u cry u cry alone. So stop crying and start laughing and the world will notice u trust me it worked for me.
