Put fresh lemon juice on your hands and rub it in well then rinse with clear water. Rubbing salt on your hands can also help. If you hold onto an onion you are cutting with the tines of a fork and just hold the handle of the fork and turn it as you slice the onion, this may help you avoid getting the smell on your hands to begin with. Try washing your hands with a mild hand soap, and then squeeze the juice of a lemon in both hands. That should do the trick.

A few drops of white vinegar
rub into your hands throughly
wait approximately 2 mins.
wash with any soap product

Rub your hands on something made out of stainless steel. Then wash your hands again. It should come off.

try using Dawn dishwashing liquid and salt. put some salt in your hand and squirt some dawn on it and rub your hands together without water for a minute or two and then rinse. the salt acts as an abrasive and gets into all the crevises. works for me :)

This may sound silly, but turn the water on and with a butter knife pretend to butter your entire hand. By running the knife over your entire hand (fingers also) under the running water. It really works I was amazed.

Alton Brown told me (through TV) to rub your fingers on a stainless steel knife or sink. I did it before and it works... for garlic too.
