I was picked best answer by someone whome I have like interests with and I've considered e-mailing them, but been afraid that it would come accross as strange.
I've not e-mailed anyone without invitation before and I don't want to be rude so to speak.
I rank it up there with entering someone's house without knocking.

I can understand feeling uneasy about this. But like someone else said, if this person has made it possible for people to email him or her from his or her profile, then you shouldn't have much of a reason to feel bad about it (though even I would still feel awkward about it, so I understand).

Give it a try, and who knows, maybe something will come of it.

No, it wouldn't come across as strange. It's different to *physically* enter someones house without knocking. View the introductory e-mail as a knock. If they don't want to talk, they won't answer the door ;-)

You could say you appreciate being picked as best answer, you notice the person has similar interests, and ask whether s/he is interested in corresponding. This leaves the choice with the other person, and is perfectly polite.

i don't think its strange....... just tell them what you said in your question. something like " hi, i noticed we have some of the same interests, maybe we could be friends?" if they answer back, great, if not, at least you tried lol......hope that helped

If they have the link up to email them, they are inviting anyone to email them. go ahead and do it. What have you got to lose?
