I've read that the mormons believe they are saved by good works so why do they need to trust in the promises of the cross and Jesus sacrifice . I think they are a cult anyway.

Paul taught that the cross is offensive to those who are perishing. Mormons, like many others, rely on their own efforts and good work to get them into heaven. The cross says that all of this effort is for nothing--that only grace through the shed blood of Jesus can save us from sin. To embrace the cross they would need to understand and embrace grace, something they have not done.

I am not a Mormon but Jesus remains on the cross only for those who have not repented and excepted Him as Lord and savior. For me the cross is where Jesus died for my sins, but now He lives in my heart.Read Hebrews 6:6 and you will get a greater understanding. My desire is to experience the power of His resurrection for my God lives and is not dead but very much alive, amen,Praise the Lord !

Because we focus on His resurrection and life, not HOW he died. Of course we know it was important for Him...we just try to focus on His life and teachings.
On top of each church is a "spire" that points towards heaven reminding us we should always be focusing on the Lord and living the way He wants us to.
Every church has different symbols and meanings associted with one another, the cross for us just isn't one used.

The cross as a philosophical symbol predates Jesus Christ. While Mormons believe in Jesus, they object to the earlier meanings of a cross. It's a compromise.

They don't believe what Jesus did on the cross is sufficient to atone for our sins that paid our way for us to receive everlasting life. That everlasting life is a free gift to be received.

Mormons believe Jesus died for every ones sins so they can attain everlasting life by doing their religious ceremonies.

Even Brigham Young mocked the Christians of his day who believed in God's Saving Grace.

The Morman faith is Salvation by works. Jesus Christ faith is Salvation by Grace.

Also Salvation means eternal life in heaven to me. While salvation means something else to Mormons. That one has to earn their own righteousness.

Problem is that even one sin will keep someone out of heaven. Sin needs to be atoned for. That is why only those redeemed by the blood of the Lamb go to heaven.

So if a Mormon does all the good things he knows how to do yet there are sins not covered by the Blood, that mormon will not go to heaven. His works are dead works because he never confessed Jesus Christ his Lord & believed in his heart the Atonement & Resurrection and be born of God.

We don't use the cross because we view the cross as a symbol of the dying Christ while our message is a message about the living Christ. The best symbol we can have of our belief in Christ is to live our lives consistent with the teachings of Christ. We believe that it is only through Jesus Christ that we can return to live with God again.

I can't believe the ignorance of everybody on this question. Why does everyone believe rumors about Mormons that are created by other churches?

I couldn't say it better than Matt. His is the best answer.

They tend to follow the Bible to the letter, and as it says in the 10 commandments(2nd Commandment) " Thou shall have no Graven Images", the Cross falls into this category in the Mormon's mind.

There is no need for it. You don't need symbols like that - if people are truly following the word of God and the gospel lifestyle, they will be there own symbol of the LORD in the church!
