fog lights dont blind people, they cast a wide low to ground beam and not much distance to the light. i.e to see below the fog. driving lights and spot lights cast bright narrow long distance beam. they might be bright to some people. and using fog ights help illuminate the ground better. you can see in the snow rain or even regular weather better. it lets you see pot holes dips etc irregularities much better, than with out them.

Some of these people must have a cranial rectal insertion syndrome.Yes,fog lights are bright, and they will blind an oncoming driver if they are not adjusted correctly. And yes,a lot of the newer cars are equiped with daytime running lights that stay on all the time, though these are not ussualy a problem. Most drivers run with the fog lights on 'cause they think it's cool.I think all states should adopt the same law as Wyoming. If it's not raining or foggy,it will cost you $60 plus court costs if you get caught.

I'm not gonna lie, I use mine because the damn headlights suck. The bulbs are new, they are aimed right and the lens is crystal clear, but the engineer (s) who designed the reflector inside the headlight housing decided that more light over a wider area (thus making the beam less intense) is better than a more intense beam that is narrower.
So, I use the fog lights to add more light in front of the vehicle, for your safety and mine, because I'd rather see the road, than be politically (automotively?) correct.

If you are talking about driving lights, on some cars, the lights come on automatically. It is a safety feature and good idea to help your car be seen. (the same reason you should drive with your headlights on at dusk, dawn, when it is raining, or other times when it may be difficult to see oncoming cars. Just because you can see to drive does not mean you can be seen.)
Fog lights or driving lights are not blinding. If you are talking about high beams headlights, you must never have driven in fog--you use your low beams in fog.

I seem to remember asking this same question a couple of weeks ago -- the old ones are the best!!! Sorry, mine was rear fogs, but had similar responses -- They are brain dead IQ zeroes, so that is their excuse. As you say, it is illegal to drive with auxilliary lights unless in foggy conditions - visibility less than 100 metres in the united kingdom.

Because some think its cool, others have a hard time seeing in the dark. But in most states it is illegal to drive with them if fog isnt present.

I think you mean high beam or brights. Fogs help you see what's low to the ground. They don't blind you though. I hate when people do that I feel like getting out of the car and throwing bricks at them. I usually just turn my mirror upward until I get from in front of them or they turn off.

It's an ego trip, "hey look at me, I can't get enough of me, I LOVE me!"
They don't realize a lot of people are tired and so the lights do bother the eyes! :(
I drive slower to entice them to go around, or as someone else suggested, pull over and let them go around.
If they are oncoming, don't look directly at the car (duh....) instead look at the fog-line! :)
What ever you do, DO NOT HIT YOUR BRAKES when they are behind you, you will be found guilty of causing an accident if it goes that far! The road rage laws will get'ya! :(

A lot of saturns, cavaliers, etc. have it to wear you cant turn them off... they're automatic. if they blinded people, they wouldnt make cars like that ;)

They help light up the road, and they are not fog lights, they are driving lights. Pull over and let them pass, lets face it some people are just plain rude, get over it.
