In a recent dream, I was walking into a movie theater room with a gun in my mouth, as I was about to press the trigger, I woke up due to a phone ringing, stopping the dream from ending. My question is, has anyone seen themselves die in a dream before they had woken up? (I am not suicidal, this was a nightmare)

Yes it is possible to oneself dying in a dream. It has happend to me. I woke up later with faint picture of what I had seen. I felt a little perterbed and next day narated to elderly person in the family. The elder person consoled me by saying that in real life actually the opposite of what is seen in the dream happens.

Dreams are manifestation of our subconcious mind. It may be showing what is there deep in our subconcious mind.

Once I dreamed that I was already dead. It was a freaky, weird dream. In my dream, I was a federal agent of some kind, and I had died while working on a case. I never saw myself die in the dream. I just know I was at a location near a railroad track and in the next part of the dream I had been shot and killed and an insane, crazy, and very handsome man named Marshall was keeping my body in a cave not far from the railroad track. He was wearing a Superman outfit with a letter M on it instead of an S. He was trying to bury my body in the wall of the cave which was made of chocolate. And he kept laughing really creepy like and yelling, "I'm ruler of the world because I love chocolate." He flew off when the people I worked with came into the cave. They were really sad that I was dead and said that Marshall must have loved me very much since he was trying to turn me into chocolate.

I don't think I will ever forget that dream. It was so strange. It was scary while I was dreaming it, but when I woke up, I couldn't stop laughing. It was just so unreal. Your dream on the other hand sounds really frightening because it could be real.

I've been shot in a dream before and woken up just fine, well a little bit in shock, 'cause the dream was so real. I was shot 3 times in the chest and I could feel the bullets passing through me then I suddenly woke up..

Characterized by visual hallucinations, this syndrome was first described in 1780, by the biologist Charles Bonnet (1720–93). Although the condition was known then, it is often goes unrecognized in present clinical practice. This is due partly to the under-reporting of symptoms by patients associating hallucinations with mental illness. Charles Bonnet syndrome (CBS) occurs in people with visual impairment and is most common in the elderly. Although the aetiology of CBS is unclear, cognitive defects, social isolation, and sensory deprivation have all been implicated. The hallucinations consist of well-defined clear images that are not under the patient's control and may involve a variety of images from simple lines and patterns to complex scenes of fictional and non-fictional characters and places. Images last from seconds through minutes to hours. Patients usually have insight into the unreality of their experience, although those that do not may be distressed by the fear of insanity. Unfortunately, there is no known cure or treatment for CBS. However, reassurance and explanation that the visions are not real and do not signify mental illness have positive therapeutic effects.

Those dreams can be scary. I had one not long ago. I dreamed I was in a building with several people with my husband and son. We overheard that there was a bomb in the building. We started to run and my son and I got out, but my husband didn't. We were running as fast as we could through a field. I looked over my shoulder and couldn't see my husband. I knew the building was going to explode and I also knew I wasn't far enough away. That was when I woke up. Scared the heck out of me. Couldn't sleep the rest of the night.
