People have used BC(before christ) and AD(anno dimini) for the timeline for up until a couple years ago because they are Christian. now for public schools they use BCE(before common era) and CE(common era). But why do people think that AD(anno domini, or year of the lord) means after death? In the bible, Jesus lived for 30 years after AD started. And please, I want answers that aren't sacreligious.

Your requirement of not being sacreligious should include rules for what you consider sacreligious, since there is no common guidlines available.

People think AD means "after death" because they don't know Latin and are ignorant. AD is an invention of around 1530, so has only been in use for around 500 years. I expect that by the end of this century BC and AD will have ceased to be used except by a few fanatical Christians.

The use of BCE and CE are used today as we are a multicultural society with many religions which do not associate themselves with the Christian religion. Respectfully, there is no superiority to one religion over another.

They think AD is after death only because they are uneducated about such things. The new terms are about as funny and ridiculous as domestic engineer for housewife. All in the name of political correctness. UGH!

I made my own calender. But I'm having trouble getting people to follow it.
There are ony four months. Which makes it easier to remember.
But one of the months is hibernation season.
It's a good calender, WHY don't people use it?

It's just a mistake that some people make, that's all. If they knew better, then they wouldn't do it.
