I was thinking and drinking with some freinds an the idea came up, when we started talking, we thought why wait to get together with freinds to reminese about our lives. So we are talking about a wake for me. Bad taste or great idea?

. now im starting to worry about you, but that kind of stuff is what makes you unique. but dont we usually sit back on our birthdays and reminese about our lives.

Wow. That was an idea that one student in my death and dying class said aloud. The teacher just looked at her and really did not comment. I thought the idea was very interesting, yet I don't know if I would feel comfortable doing that. It depends on who you would invite or how you would go about it. I mean, like for your close friends/family it might work. Others may not see it as normal. I don't know your friends or anything about your social life, but celebrating a special person's life is always nice. Maybe Halloween would be a nice time to try this.

I think it sounds great. Make sure they send lots of flowers...and lots of good food and drink! That way YOU get to enjoy a party that you would normally be left out of!

i don't think so. too often people forget that we all die, and they get all worked up about someone's death. life should be remembered and celebrated. why not celebrate someone's life while they are still living. i like it. i would put death make up on and get a coffin too. lay still in it until everyone gets there and then make scary noises. have your friends play ouija board and pretend to summon you. yell things like...i ate your dog's leg and i see your grandma.

make sure the friends you invite to the wake aren't smartasses who will kill you there to make it a real wake. someone else had the idea before you and this very thing happened.
