Try whatever works best for you. Acetaminophen (ex. Tylenol) is good for general pain and is best taken every 4-6 hours whereas ibuprofen (ex. Advil, Motrin) is an anti-inflammatory and is best taken every 6-8 hours. If you suffer from stomach or kidney problems or if you are pregnant, then I would suggest you take acetaminophen rather than ibuprofen. Also, always make sure you read and follow the package directions carefully.

Hope this helps and I hope you feel better.

Ibuprofen is definitely what you need. It comes otc in 200mg strength. You can always increase that by taking 2, 3 or 4 at a time. My pain is such that I take 800mg, 4 times a day. I don't buy mine over the counter. My pcp prescribes the 800mg strength for me.

Really, I would prefer to have hydrocodone or morphine. But, I can't get my doctor to prescribe them for me. She is afraid I will become addicted.

Good Luck

I prefer Advil. 'Narcotics is a big general statement.' Best to ask your Doctor for any contra-indications regarding other things you are on as well. Always go to the same Pharmacy as well,so they can watch for any meds than are not good with each other. Have them approve any OTC purchases to be safe, including vitamins and mineral supplements. good luck!
