god so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son to die for us so that whosoever believeth in him and is baptised shall be saved--that's where the idea comes from, and it seems to be the only thing a lot of people know anymore. Is ignorance of god's word an excuse for disobeying it?--I love questions like this, and am so glad to see a true Christian posting it--thank you!

There is no scripture for that ,because it isn't true.Yes,we are living by grace,but that doesn't give us the green light to do whatever we want because it will be forgiven.We are to strive not to sin,but we are not perfect,and God knew that we would fall at times.He sent Jesus to be sacrificed so that we could be forgiven through His precious blood.Just believing in God and saying you're saved doesn't make that so.You have to not only believe,you have to accept Jesus as your Savior,ask forgiveness of your sins,and live for God to the best of your ability.,and if you do these things,you are saved by the Grace of God,and your sins will be forgiven by the Grace of God.But you can't continue to do the same sins over and over again,and if you're a true child of God,you won't want to.

7Someone might argue, "If my falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?"
8Why not say--as we are being slanderously reported as saying and as some claim that we say--"Let us do evil that good may result"? Their condemnation is deserved.
9What shall we conclude then? Are we any better? Not at all! We have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under sin.
10As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one;
11there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.
12All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one."
13"Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit." "The poison of vipers is on their lips."
14"Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness."
15"Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16ruin and misery mark their ways,
17and the way of peace they do not know."
18"There is no fear of God before their eyes."
19Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.
20Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.
21But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,
23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (Rom 3)

Yes, we are under grace, and No, we cannot do whatever we want. I Corinthians 6:12 says, "All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any."

Because it isn't said that way, it is not in there. Remember, to sin willingly is of the devil's influence....
Repentence is necessary.. and sorrow for the disobedience ...and on and on and on.
I don't feel like sermonizing, it's Saturday~Bravo!!
