they are dwarf hamsters. a boy and a girl. once the girl had babies i took the dad out. i am not using a very GREAT cage, but it will do until the babies grow. i feel bad 4 him. is it okay if next time i just leave him in there. i read that it was okay from somewhere but i want to know if that is correct. p.s. any advice towards my one week two day old baby hamsters : like when to hold them, feeding them, wut to do, etc.

=i am not an expert on hamsters but be careful cause from what i understand sometimes the mother will eat them. I don't mean to scare you but that is true cause I know someone that it happened to.

I've had hamsters since i was five, and with those hamsters, many many babys. The hamsters are just beginning to be at their breeding age if their around a month and half. You could leave them together, considering that since the female is bigger nothin might happen, and also they are still really young. However, if the female does get pregnant, itll be a disaster. At this age shes not ready to have babys, and will most likely abandon them if she does have them. If you only have one cage and thats the issue, you could just try wrapping a book you dont like very much in celophane (plastic) wrap, and seperating the cage and them. If you think the hamsters will be lonely apart and that is the issue...I have never seen a hamster who minded being alone. They are more likely to fight with the other one than fall in love with it. Especially a male/female combo. Good luck

he wont hurt them but, if u leave him with her u risk her getting pregnant again which shortens her lifespan and makes it likely she wont have enough milk to feed so many babies. the first ones might not be weaned before she has more. this also makes her likely to kill some so some will survive. at 1 month u need to put all the boys with dad or u will have even more babies.

well I am sure you will get more babys if you do not seperat all males from the femails not sure who soon they can bread but in a month or 2 I am sure. often the adult hamsters can crush the babys so better to only have the mum with the new borns she needs to feed

NO! He will hump the babies everyday until everyone of the girls is pregnant. I know it is disguisting, but unless you want 72 baby hampsters in 3 weeks, leave him in a separate cage.

the dad hamster will kill the babys and you would have to take the hamsters to a pet store to find out what they are

Yes, but please Introduce them to each other Slowely. like a friend of mine, she put two small hampster cages side by side & let the hampsters see/ play/ each other & get to know each other like that first. then after you feel ( about a week ) & put the two togther . it should be ok. most gets along ok. but as all animals , they all have Diffrent Personalitys. & age. Id Advise that. but not everybody thinks the same. i bought two hampsters as a kid & they fought to death as we didnt know to introduce very slow, they have feelings to & great pets, in fact im getting one soon myself for christmas. there lovable. There quiet. there fun to watch & very pretty, @ least i think & hope im getting one. LOL put it that way. take care hon & wishing you lotts of luck &happy holidays.
