and i saw him while i was at the mall today and tried the advice that a cool person instant messaged me, but he didn't react or try to find me again or anything. did i scare him off? help, i really like this guy, and i don't care what my friends say about him. i like him

come on....do ya know how much he wishes he would be reciprocated with a smile just like his(and it seems that smile will be so much lightening his heart more thah his own lightens his face) ???
just go on..give a like smile and say "hello"...who knows things might be hatching for both of ya....my inference here is that he likes ya...and if he says it is not so, he must be lying!.

PLEASE dont listen to what your friends think. At least try to communicate with him. If hes looking at you its a good sign. Some people call people stupid names for stupid reasons. If this will make you happy then go for it because the only person you are you are responsible for making happy. Take care of yourself first and then deal with the negative comments. Maybe if your friends saw the he isnt such a loser they back off from him and you. Just do what feels right to you. Thats all that counts.

If there's a chance he's just happy to see a girl, and your friends think he's a loser, go for it and ask him to a dance or something. Guys like that need a bit of a push. Strike up a conversation about a tv show or something you think he'd be interested in.

Your friends probably think he's a loser because they've never met him and have this stereotype of him already thought out. Prove them wrong! Get to know him, and if he DOES like you, great! Just stop by him if he looks at you in the hall and say "Hey."
Get to know him before assuming anything.

If you can't tell your friends,are they really your friends. I was in the same situation. I really liked him I asked him out he said no, and my friends didn't tallk to me again. Find somone you can trust and ask him\her to say are you intrested in her? Or you can weigh your options. would you rather have a boy friend, or friends you cant tell anything to.Or thay would laugh. I asure you you can talk to me about any thing i totally get it.

You should block him in the hall, smile at him, then ask him his name, tell him you would like to talk to him sometime, if he's got the balls to talk to you.
