There are a couple of issues here. If you do not have an adult who will give you the straight scoop you will have to talk to the rents. They will never believe you are "old enough" until you are getting married. It may be time for you to ask your father to take a walk out of the house and ask the questions. It will show him that you might be ready to know more if you treat the subject as an adult. Remember that your father should be your first and best resource. Give him the opportunity to do his job for you. It could lead to better relations with him.
This post may involve Too Much Information. But there really cannot be TMI on this subject. That you are asking means its time to inform.
I don't know how old you are I've but raised two sons. The education here involved this simple fact. You will probably be sexually active long before I know or want to. You need to be prepared with the information to prevent unwanted pregnancy and STD's.
With the wealth of devices at your disposal there is ZERO excuse for having either occurrence.
Condoms are readily available and should be lubricated with spermicide. Spermicide is also effective against many STD's as well. Condoms alone are only about 85% effective in preventing pregnancy however. Condoms coupled with spermicide foam are about 99% effective in pr venting pregnancy and STD"s.
This information is available at Planned Parenthood. They are not bad guys. Use this information and the issue of abortion does not come into play,Period.
If you cannot find yourself walking in a drugstore for this stuff you do not have the maturity required for a sexual relationship and will only get yourself in trouble as well as some girl.
As far as the mechanics go, TALK TO YOUR FATHER. If he is unwilling to discuss it or be adult about it, go to Borders and read some books. I'd bet your local library also has some information. And don't forget Planned Parenthood. A big portion of their mandate involves proper education for sexuality.

Yes it feels weird to discuss sex with your parents. Yet they are the first people you should go to with your questions. You need to know your parent's views on the subject. When you speak with them, if you find they are embarassed (it is an awkward subject) or do not seem to want to talk freely, maybe there is another relative who would be happy to talk with you. Then, there are some good health websites that can give you some information. You don't give your age, but I would not depend on any information from "friends." They know no more than you regardless of how "experienced" you or they may think they are.

Talk to a close relative or family friend (someone older and more experiences). Its not weird that you don't to ask your parents, many teens feel uncomfortable about this subject with their parents. Books at the library or educational resources on the internet might help. Good luck and God bless!

My youngest, after having the Sex Education Class at school, still didn't want to talk to me about it so she talked to big sister instead. My youngest is 13 F, big sister is 31. She is just now wanting to talk to dad about certian things.

Talk with someone you feel more comfortable with. Topics like this are very awkward with parents. Try someone like friends, an older cousin, someone like that. Someone you could trust.

Talk to your parents. Don't rely on friends because often their answers are myths. if you really feel you can't talk to your parents what about a school counselor. Please just don't ask your friends. talk with someone who will know what they are talking about.

Nope....when I was young, I kept a lot from my parents too. They weren't very receptive...more judgmental than anything.
