Mar 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Does this mean Jesus said there was one god, and not three?

And does His reference from Deuteronomy mean that the Old Testament is till valid?

The Greatest Commandment in the law, This is the first and the greatest commandment in the law. "Love the lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind." this is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-39 The three together combined are one God, God the father, Jesus the Son and The holy spirit are as one. Get your bible and read it, this would be a good place to begin to gain better understanding. good luck and God bless.

For Christians, Jesus fulfilled the Law of Moses.

Christians are not held to the ceremonial parts of the Mosaic Law concerning of dietary purity and temple worship.

Christians are held to the moral law of God, some of which is expressed in the Ten Commandments.

However Jesus took the Ten Commandments to the next step summarizing them into the two Great Commandments:
+ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.
+ You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

And teaching things like
+ Everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
+ Everyone is our neighbor including our enemies.

Therefore Christians have to go much farther than the original recipients of the Ten Commandments ever dreamed.

With love in Christ.

Yes, that is the first commandment. Yes, there is only one Almighty God,Jehovah. You can read about this at Isa.42:8. At 2Tim.3:16-17, We can learn from all scriptures in the Bible.

Jesus made it clear that he did not come to do away with the Old Testament. And perhaps when Jesus said there was only one God, he was talking about a class of higher beings, that only that certain class is reserved for the title "God."

It's just a theory, I'm not saying that it's fact. ;p

Jesus came to fulfill the old testament not replace it.He makes several references to being obediant to the Law, but it`s intent not it`s letter so to speak. He helped others understand it from God`s perspective not man`s. Jesus refers to the three in one God...for whoever has seen Jesus has seen the Father for the Father is in me and I in the Father.

In the KJV where God is mentioned it means:

elohiym {el-o-heem'}
Meaning: 1) (plural) 1a) rulers, judges 1b) divine ones 1c) angels 1d) gods 2) (plural intensive - singular meaning) 2a) god, goddess 2b) godlike one 2c) works or special possessions of God 2d) the (true) God 2e) God

Where Lord is mentioned it means:

Yehovah {yeh-ho-vaw'}
Meaning: Jehovah = "the existing One" 1) the proper name of the one true God

I believe that Yeshua is God, but not God the Father. The trinity is an odd idea that is not mentioned in the Bible per say but is implied in so many ways.

Here is one of many examples.

Exodus 3:14 4 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Above is where God tells Moses to tell God's people who sent him. God tells Moses his name is I AM.

John 18:6 6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

In this verse Yeshua told them I AM, he is inserted in english but left out in Greek, and they fell to the ground in praise.

Yeshua made many I AM statements in the New Testament. Here is a website that digs further into the subject.

http://www.bible.ca/trinity/trinity-i-am.htm

If you belive what Yeshua said in Mark 12 then what about his quotes in John 10 and 14?

John 10:30 30 I and my Father are one.

John 14:11 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

I am Christian but still follow many of the Levitical laws. These are Gods words and he said them for a reason.

Matthew 5:17-18 7 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
