I have tried every dandruff shampoo and every available medication. I have talked to every doctor I see. Nothing helped me so far.

Do you know any cure, home remedies, "grandma's advice", etc ?

I wash my hair everyday with a dandruff shampoo!

1. Dispense a regular amount of your normal shampoo (non-conditioning) into your hand
2. Add 10 drops of good quality Pure Tea Tree Oil to the shampoo and mix to create your anti-dandruff shampoo
3. Lather hair with mixture vigorously for 5 minutes. Ensure you lather down to the scalp. Avoid contact with eyes.
4. Rinse your hair and enjoy the refreshing aroma.
5. Apply some pure tea tree oil to itchy areas using a cotton bud
6. Repeat daily to eradicate and prevent dandruff

Although pre-prepared tea tree oil shampoo is commercially available, you get more value with pure tea tree oil.

A few remedies that you can try at home are:-

Apply coconut oil on your scalp and leave it for an hour. After an hour, apply lemon juice and massage your scalp. Leave it on for another hour, and then shampoo your hair with a mild shampoo. This will leave your hair shiny and without any dandruff flakes.

Take an egg, beat it and apply on the scalp and leave it for an hour. Shampoo your hair and you will find that the dandruff has disappeared.

If you have mild dandruff, applying coconut oil daily for a few days, will rid you of the condition.-

Wash you hair with beer. The alcohol in the beer is known to clear the dandruff on your scalp.

You can also try massaging your scalp with vinegar (if you can stand the smell) and then wash it with a mild shampoo.

The above-mentioned remedies should help you get rid of dandruff. If the problem persists, it could be due to other factors, so a visit to the dermatologist is highly advised.

I had the same condtion for many years. I finally saw a dermitologist that was able to help. The first thing he did was give me a hair cut. ????!!!!! What?????!!!!! you say? Yes a hair cut. 1/4" buzz job. He said keep it short for at least 6 months so "get out in the sun and get a tan on your scalp -- not a burn but a tan" So I started working out in the sun at least 30 minutes each day and slowly developed a tan on my scalp.

He then gave me a perscription for Selenium Sulfide Lotion USP. It comes in 4oz bottles. It is a scalp conditioning lotion which kill fungus and other skin infections. Lather for five minutes while massaging the scalp. Let it stand another five minutes. After about three minutes it begins to tingle but it is refreshing. He told me to use it twice weekly.

He said I should wash my scalp with lukewarm water and a baby shampoo normally the other days.

After about two weeks I saw a marked improvement in the flaking. At the end of six weeks I was almost completely flake free. At the end of twelve weeks I was completely flake free and my scalp is smooth and normally oily again not dry and flaky.

I have come to like the short cut because the dog clippers do a fine job of keeping it short and neat. So I kept the 1/4" cut and put the $12. that I would normally put in the barbers hand into a jar to buy special presents for the wife -- like visits to the hair dresser.

Truely hope this helps.

Have you tried using a stronger types of anti-dandruff shampoo that has "Ketoconazole"?

Aside from fungus, sometimes, dandruff can be a result of lack of nutrients, usually from lack of Vitamin E. Try having more of the "glow" foods rich in vitamins and minerals - your fruits and vegetables.

It also helps when you apply coconut oil regularly and massage it into your scalp.

Green tea shampoo really helped my dandruff and also remember not to wash and rinse with hot water. It dries out your scalp. Try to use lukewarm water.

Change your diet, cut out greasy snacks and candies. Diet affects more diseases than most people think. Another thing you might want to do is go to herbdoc.com on the net and check out what they have to say about dandruff!

stop washing your hair everyday, use a soft bristle brush, then keep trying dandruff shampoos, and wear white shirts.
