I don't want to get the curls done at the hairstyle place with enough hairspray to cause a hole in the ozone layer the size of Texas. I have dark brown hair that is naturally wavy, but I live in a very humid city, and my hair not only poofs, but frizzes (I look like a squirrel who decided to experiment with a bug zapper). Ponytails and straightners are my best friends. I want to wear my hair down, but the dance at my school gets VERY hot (my school has 3,800 kids. About 60-75% of them attend... The gym and cafeteria get very packed and very hot). My dress is berry pink, and my mom is making it in the kneelength pattern for this dress:

All advice is helpful.

The "messy" looking 'updo' like a spiky bun is SOOOOO cute with your type hair. Also, if you dance or like you said, it's hot in there...it's easy to re-do a couple of strands here and there and they don't look "out of place".

I'd say up...this is a guy's opinion and I'm just going based off hairstyles I've seen before but definitely pick it up for her...maybe on of those buns that you girls do and then let some of the hair fall down from the bun (hard to explain but hopefully you get what I'm saying)
