I personally, don't say I've got a boyfriend or girlfriend if I'm seeing more than one person. So, yeah, for me, I would say I was in a monogamous relationship if I said I had a bf/gf. Otherwise, I'd just say I was casually dating!

If it's never discussed with your significant other then I think it's implied. It's a social norm, and most people assume that this is the way it should be. However if you talk about it, and you both agree to seeing other people on the side, then it doesn't have to be monogamous.

Traditional religious polygamy gives the man the power in the marriage. Then the multiple wives are expected to share what little power is left over for the wife role. That's a real mess. There are millions of people in monogamy. Why would you expect them to all act alike? There is nothing inherently unbalanced in the monogamy contract in a free democratic country.

It depends, doesn't it?
What do you believe? And equally as important, what does he believe?
I personally believe that you are; then again, I'm not much of a person to sleep around at all.
Regardless, you need to talk with him and find out how you each feel about monogomy. There's no other way around it, sorry.

Yeah, of course. If you are seeing other people as well, that's called cheating or adultery. You have to be faithfull to your boyfriend/girlfriend if you love them. If you don't love them you call it off. Though I know that some people are scared of commitment, and just sleep with anyone. Anyone who does that doesn't have any respect for other people, because they don't have any respect for themselves.

If you haven't had sex, or you are not wearing his ring, or verbally vowed monagomy to each other than The field is still open.

I think that it should, especially if you are in an "adult" type of relationship.
