What does a "rain check" mean im always hearing it but never have known what it means =( ?? any ideas . . .

Suppose a store advertises an item as being on sale. You go to buy one of whatever it is, but they don't have any more in stock. The store may issue you a "rain check" so that you can come back when they get more in stock and they will still honor the sale price even if the special sale is over by then.

If something is on sale you can ask for a rain check and then you can get the item for the sale price when the sale is over.
