Can Time travel be a possibility?
Can past be altered?
And do you believe in the posibility of Multiverse (a theory developed by certain scientists)i.e. different universes with our same planet but with alternative histories and different present circumstances.

I'm not certain what this has to do with the R&S topic, but my reading of the scientific literature says that all of these are relatively controversial. Some theories that are not yet testable suggest that time is not necessarily a constant, but traversing time is hard to imagine. The idea of multiverses is less compelling than the idea of things existing in more than 3 (or 4) dimensions. Again, these things are not yet testable, although quantum mechanics is starting to show some possible (but hardly incontrovertable) evidence of extra dimensional interactions with our own universe.

Why is this even a question towards atheists? Doesn't sound like a question geared towards atheist. (No, I'm not atheist, christian, muslim, agnostic, etc. I don't catagorize myself).

Yes, I believe in the possiblity of time travel.
No, I don't believe the past can be altered. What's done is done.
Yes, I do believe in multiverse in difference time dimensions as small as a fraction of a second.

As far as elmo's question goes: If you were from a higher intelligence and you saw a self destructive planet like earth, would you want to set foot on this planet or communicate with such volitile people?

What the hell does time travel have to do with being an Atheist?

Well time travel is possible if there was vehicles that could withstand the heat of traveling at the speed of light.

About different universes there have been studies where particles of matter dissapear then reapear...where do they go??

Who knows giving any difinitve answer is as foolish as saying
God created the world in 6 days.

I think 'philosophically' time travel is not possible (as in the 'Back to the future' Kind). Personally I believe the 'time travel paradoxes' expose this to be the case.

I think the 'Multiverse' is possible, but dont think the 'Sliders' kind is likely

Time travel is theoretically possible, however not in the way most people imagine it, and definitely not in a way that would be useful to anyone. If we were able to travel back in time in the way it is shown in the movies and such we wouldn't be able to change anything. Think of it this way... If i were to go back in time to assassinate Hitler in his childhood to stop the holocaust when time caught up nobody would know about the Holocaust... myself included, so there would have been no need to go back in time in the first place... i wouldn't go, he wouldn't die, it would still happen anyway.

Why is this question posed to atheists? and why is it in R&S?

I don't believe that we can go back to the past, no.

About the multiverse, well, it seems a stretch to me.

I guess anything's possible but I don't give the idea much credence.

We already can travel forward in time. Going backwards in time would necessitate an infinite number of parallel universes, and remains to be proved.

Why aren't people from the future here? Are the 2000's not interesting enough..or perhaps earth won't be around long enough for technology to advance that far..or it is impossible.

It depends on the atheist that you're asking. Theres not a 'book' of atheist beliefs and/or views, atheists can believe whatever they want.
