I've been in a similar position. If he loves you and you've been together for about 10 months then he should know your financial situation. If he's a true gentleman then he won't expect you to do much for him. What I mean by that if financially. With $5.00 you can give a card or you can give a beautifully handcrafted picture frame that you've made yourself. You don't have to be terribly creative to make great gifts. And... they really do mean more when you've put time and effort into a gift for someone that you love. If the receiver of the gift doesn't seem to appreciate what you've done then it's time to move on. Good Luck! Congratulations! and God bless!

It's perfectly OK to combine both the anniversary & Christmas gift. If, you are thinking of buying say perhaps a shirt as the christmas gift you can always add a nice tie as the aniversary gift, Or, if you go with one gift say for example a nice pair of leather gloves...you could always say something in the card to acknowledge the gift is in celebration of both Christmas & your anniversary...like, as we celebrate one year together you are the best Christmas gift I could ever get. Stay warm & if the gloves don't keep you warm enough... remeber, I love you and I'll be happy to warm you up any time! That way he'll think about you when ever he wears the gloves..(don't know your age, or where you live) but most people who do get a cold winter could always use a nice pair of gloves). At this time of the year nice stores usually have quality leather gloves on sale...

If he is a good bf then he should already know that you don't have much money and he won't be expecting 2 expensive gifts. Get him whatever you can afford for which ever date and plan a special evening for the other. The best gift will come from the heart not the store.

Get him a small bottle of cologne that you like him to wear, That would be the Christmas present. And for the anniversary thing I think it will not matter to much to him unless you have made a big deal about it. I would just stick with the cologne. Good luck. I guess you could promise him to make his favorite meal for him sometime the following week.

Talk to your boyfriend and make sure both of you are on the same page. Maybe you can agree to buy just one present for both occasions. That's what my boyfriend and I did because our anniversary was New Years Eve. I got him a DVD set for one of the seasons of the Sopranos and framed a really nice picture of us. If your gift isn't really expensive then make the card by hand, and cook him a really nice dinner to go with it.

You have a lot of time to plan. Make him something for your anniversary, but buy him something for Xmas. I say this because you want your anniversary to be special and any thing that comes from the heart and hands is better then the commercial gift for the birth of the lord.
Best of luck

Make him a special meal for his birthday, light some candles, put on some of his favorite music. Make it a special, romantic evening! Make him a card (always more meaningful than buying one!) And spend what money you do have for Christmas... but there are many things to get that don't cost much! Use your imagination! :o)

Put a big, red bow in your hair, and leave all your other clothes in the closet!
