I put footed pajames on him and keep his door open, but he seems to wake up a couple times a night because he is cold.

Firstly, check the temperature of the room. Is it similar to your own? Is it warmer or cooler with the door open?

Try a baby sleeping bag. He can't kick it off and they come in different warms. They might provide better insulation from the cold as they have the warm air from his body inside.

Goodluck!

If he is well fed before bed, he will produce more body heat and stay warm for longer.

If he kicks his blanket off, it is probably because he feels it is too heavy. Cover him just on the upper body not proceeding below the knees, and make sure he wears long pj pants and bed socks. The main part of the body to keep warn is the chest, stomach and the back area. Keep the room warm with a heater or the door shut. If he still kicks, try purchasing a children's sleeping bag.

My daughter is 2 and she still hates blankets. I put her in thermals with socks OVER the pants and the shirt tucked in to the pants also. Then I put her in feet pajamas. I set my thermostat to 70 so whenever it go colder than that, the heat would kick in, with the door closed. If you leave the door open you're allowing cold air to circulate. Don't use a space heater unless you don't have central heat. They can be dangerous and aren't reccomended in kids' rooms

the pjs are doing enough, but i would also put on a onsie and some light socks, depending on how cold it is.
my son used to wake up fussing every night as well, they have the perfect age to 'try' you and test out how far they can go.
he wanted to sleep in the bed with mommy and daddy.
it might be rough for a couple of nights, but as long as you know he is warm, changed and well taken care of,try to let him fuss for a little.go in the room, assure him everything is ok,cover him back up but let him stay in HIS bed.
give it a few nights and see if that works..
it will be nerve wrecking, especially since you need your sleep as well,so good luck!!

I realised that my sons kick off their blankets so easily, until I tried covering them short of their feet, which when its really cold, i'll wear socks for them. Once the feet aren't covered by the blanket, even when they kick around at night the blanket is harder to kick off, more likely wraps them more than gets kicked off. Maybe you can try that. And I tuck in their pajama tops so their tummy doesn't get exposed as well as bottoms with an elastic base that won't easily ride up their legs.

We use to put socks and a diaper shirt under the footed PJ's.

Turn the heat up in his room a little bit. Remember that they don't have alot of body fat like adults. That's why they feel the cold more than we do.

try tucking the blanket under the mattress at both sides and bottom (not tight that he can move), also keep on a night light. Has he always done this or just now? maybe he is waking up for something else.

good luck

I would definitely go with flannel footed PJs and maybe an undershirt. There's no way you can force him to stay covered. Maybe he's waking up for other reasons...not just because he is cold.......Maybe attention is what he is after!

He may be waking up because he wants to be cuddled. Try sitting in a chair and holding him tightly, but not too tightly, until he falls asleep again.

They are so sweet and cute! It's good if you can see these as precious moments, not lost sleep!

As a mom of four -I'm gonna give you a tip-most babies do not like the footed pyjamas as they're very uncomfortable and restrictive, try using socks instead.
